This time of year is when I get so excited by all of the gaming announcements; particularly in relation to Tokyo Game Show. However, I was not expecting this this afternoon and what a nice surprise this announcement was! The PlayStation Classic looks absolutely amazing. They’ve stated that it will come with twenty games however only five have been announced so far. These are: Final Fantasy 7, Jumping Flash, R4: Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3 and Wild Arms. The PlayStation has a rich library and below you’ll find the list of the fifteen games I would like on the system.
- Final Fantasy VIII
- Rayman 2: The Great Escape
- Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Assassins
- Vagrant Story
- Spider-Man
- Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2
- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
- Final Fantasy Tactics
- Valkyrie Profile
- Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete
- Chrono Cross
- Final Fantasy Tactics
- A Bug’s Life
- The Legend of Dragoon
- Rugrats: Search for Reptar
I thought about this list for quite some time. It’s quite varied but each game is important to me in its own way. I didn’t include games that had recent port announcements or remakes for the most part. However, I DID include the game that deserves a port more than any other. That is Final Fantasy VIII. One of my favourite games and such an underrated game as a whole.
Other games were included because the PAL region was neglected during this era and I missed out on playing some highly rated games such as Chrono Chross and Lunar Silver Star Story Complete. Others were chosen for the nostalgia factor. I’m sure people would scoff at playing a Rugrats game in 2018 but Search for Reptar is great fun. As too is A Bug’s Life.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 and Tenchu are both games that I couldn’t put down. They are both series that kind of faded away. Tony Hawk seemed to have a slow, painful death whilst Tenchu disappearing is just so sad! Every E3 I secretly hope for another entry in the series. It’s the true ninja game.
Well, that’s my list! I would be happy if any of them make it onto the final product. What about you wonderful people. What games would you like to see on the PlayStation Classic?
