Happy New Year!
I can’t believe it is already 2016! 2016 brings along with it a lot of exciting changes in my life which I have been looking forward to for a long time. Especially going to University and studying Japanese which I have been wanting to do for many years.
2016 is so exciting in regards to video games as a lot of long anticipated releases are scheduled to arrive sometime during the year. Most importantly The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy XV. Both of these games I have been following since I was in high school – many years ago!
Other than the big two there are other releases that I am excited about.
- Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen (PC)
Dragon’s Dogma appealed to me from its first trailer. I was the only one who preordered it at the game store that I worked at and I was hyped. The idea of taking down huge enemies appealed to me. As did the change from heaving JRPG styled games to something a little more western. It was the first game that I even bothered to look at the trophies for and I was really excited when I downed the Ur-Dragon and received the platinum. I’m excited to do it all again on PC albeit without the killer theme song and Berserk armour. - Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4
Admittedly I am a bit of a late comer to the Naruto universe. I was scared of the fans which admittedly at this stage, I am probably worse than they are. The sheer length of the series also put me off. We bought a Wii-U on launch and found no use for it so traded it in and almost got the same value back. I choose four or five games I wanted to play and picked up Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 and the rest was history. After the game (and platinum) I started to watch the series and now this is my life. I am really excited about this next installment as it is going to beat the anime to the end of the series. Also it looks absolutely beautiful and has a big chunk on Obito Uchiha. That’s definitely what you need in a game.
The next Pokemon game. Ni-Oh, World of Final Fantasy, Pokken Tournament, Digmon Story: Cyber Sleuth, KH 2.8, Persona 5, No Man’s Sky, Twilight Princess HD and many more are also on my radar. It’s a big year for JRPG’s in 2016. I can’t wait to see how it plays out!
Yup, there are a lot of good JRPGs coming out this year. All the best with your studies.
Thank you :)!
