This filler is killing me.. Normally I am an adamant filler defender as it actually doesn’t bother me. It tends to expand on the characters and gives the spotlight to some under-represented characters. Plus I think it would be a waste to skip the filler and miss Kakashi ANBU Arc/Obito back story etc. With that said there is no defending this filler. It is just awful. I will never get the time back from watching episodes 402 and 403. The only thought that keeps me going is the fact that maybe they are taking so long so that they can really polish the last part of the anime. I also hope this will be the last filler. It doesn’t matter if the anime catches up to the manga now after all, right? I bet it won’t be though. Anyway the latest episode 406 brought us two new themes!
I was sad to see Opening 16 go. I was so used to it. It had stuck around for what felt like a long time and not only did I like the song but the opening itself was awesome. Luckily opening 17 beats it out of the park. So many spoilers and foreshadowing if you haven’t read the manga but by this point I am sure a lot of people know what happens.
I really like the traditional Japanese artwork used in the opening. I would be happy if every opening was as pretty as this! The opening has just got be even more bummed about the filler as I want to see all of the future events (well, most of them) unfold already! Even a really important character appears at the end.
Even though I am not a huge fan of the song.. This ending is so much better than the opening. I love flipping to the other side and seeing why a character acts the way they do. It was already obvious what Madara was trying to achieve. Although he caused a lot of destruction and pain; He wanted to create a world where everyone would be happy. After seeing so much death and dispare this is what he set out to accomplish. You can see so many of these moments highlighted in this ending. People who have been affected by the Hidden Villages and the shinobi society as a whole. Also the symbolism of Madara looking through the leaf before throwing it away. Deep man, deep.
Eh. I still hate him though. I know he thinks he is doing the right thing but he totally ruined a lot of things in the process. Including my favourite characters life!
Anyway let me know what you think of the new opening and closings!
Pretty great post. I just stumbled upon your weblog and wanted to mention that I have really loved surfing
around your blog posts. After all I’ll be subscribing on your rss feed
and I am hoping you write again very soon!
Lackluster filler is the reason why I avoid shows that run for hundreds of episodes.
Naruto is the only long anime I’ve ever watched. I avoided it for years. Then I bought UNS3 and realised the story was pretty good. No regrets!
Wow that opening was really great ^_^
Naruto does have a history of putting out pretty awesome opening themes though. Don’t think the ending was quite up to par…
This really brings back memories though! I used to watch Naruto Shippuden in like 2011 (back in the Pain arc), but it was just too long for me. I just resorted to reading spoilers from the wiki.
I used to think Naruto was rather lame and also untouchable as I was so far behind. Late last year I started watching and got up to date. I marathoned the manga in a weekend!
The Pain Arc is one of the best 🙂
The opening is amazing! The ending song is a bit awful. The ending itself isn’t done well but I love the meaning behind it!
